Events

Nürnberger Volksfest (Festival)

As the second largest festival in Bavaria and one of the ten largest festivals in Germany, the Nürnberger Volksfest presents itself as a fun fair for families. Twice a year (in spring and autumn), for two weeks each, a multitude of booths, fairground rides and festival tents attract thousands of visitors to the fairgrounds at Dutzendteich. For details see: www.volksfest-nuernberg.de and www.festzelte-papert.de

Bardentreffen (Bards’ Festival) Nürnberg

On the occasion of the 400th anniversary of the death of Meistersinger Hans Sachs the Bardentreffen took place for the first time in 1976. Meanwhile the Nuremberg open-air music festival is celebrated at the first weekend of the Bavarian summer holidays. Bards from all over the world, often young and still unknown talents, perform on stages throughout the historical old town. A special feature: inside the old town anyone who feels called upon can actively take part in the festival. For details see: www.bardentreffen.de

Altstadtfest (Old Town Festival) Nürnberg

Every autumn the Nürnberger Altstadtfest invites visitors to Nuremberg’s city centre to enjoy typically Franconian specialities such as sausages, onion tart or also our tasty beers. There are many booths and huts to entertain guests in the best way possible. Highlights of the Altstadtfest are the traditional pageant with horse-drawn brewery carriages and the traditional Fischerstechen (fishermen’s jousts). For details see: www.altstadtfest-nue.de

Erlanger Bergkirchweih (Festival on the hill)

In Erlangen the Bergkirchweih is fondly called ‘Berch’ (hill) or simply the ‘fifth season’. Erlanger Bergkirchweih traditionally starts on the Thursday preceding Pentecost with the tapping of the barrel in front of Henninger Keller (beer cellar) and ends twelve days later with the traditional ‘burial of the barrel’ at Erichkeller. Our Bergkirchweih-Festbier (festival beer) can be enjoyed from stoneware mugs at a total of six cellars.

Nürnberger Friedenstafel (Peace Banquet)

Ever since 1999 it has been a vibrant and beloved tradition: Following the presentation of the International Nuremberg Human Rights Award citizens come together at a banquet to set an example for peace, tolerance and respect for human rights. From the very beginning we have supported the Peace Banquet with technical equipment and beverages. On the occasion of the 15th banquet Tucher employees contributed a new initiative to this event: roughly 50 volunteers drew handcarts and carried donation boxes through rows of tables to offer Tucher beers and non-alcoholic beverages for voluntary donations.Owing to this hands-on activity by Tucher, the Nuremberg Office of Human Rights was happy to receive a rounded 3,000 Euros. 100 percent of this donation will flow into anti-discrimination projects. For details see: www.nuernberg.de/internet/kuf_kultur/nuernberger_friedenstafel
